Today is Quit Facebook day, but I won’t be participating. I have many concerns about Facebook’s apparent complete disregard for the privacy of its users, but the baby isn’t going out with the bathwater, yet.
I finally decided to post my ideas about a different form of media organization that might help to combat shrinking newsrooms. A co-op media organization which is all online would have low overhead and profits would be shared by the owners/employees.
Facebook is making money via ads and other ways I’m sure. I hope they’ll improve their ad quality, but I’m not banking on it. If you’re thinking of doing online ads, think of the magazine model.
Twitter needs to make money and you could soon be charged for using Twitter. What form that will take, when and how much have yet to be answered.
